The series heads to the very frontiers of space and science to produce the definitive television history of science fiction, told through its impact on cinema, television and literature, with the help of filmmakers, writers, actors, and graphic artists. Each episode will explore one of the enduring themes of science fiction: time travel; the exploration of space; robots and artificial intelligence; and aliens.

Explore the evolution of sci-fi from its origins as a small genre with a cult following to the blockbuster pop-cultural phenomenon we know today. In each episode, James Cameron introduces one of the “Big Questions” that humankind has contemplated throughout the ages and reaches back into sci-fi’s past to better understand how our favorite films, TV shows, books, and video games were born.

The story follows 19-year-old Renee who has always loved fairy tales: the idea of a princess, a hero and a happily ever after. But Renee’s life is that of a darker tale: she’s a young woman battling addiction, depression and self-injury. In a creative blend of artistic fantasy balanced with harsh reality, the movie follows Renee on her courageous journey towards recovery.

Set in the future in a time of interplanetary colonization, an unlikely pair race against an impending global crisis and are confronted by the monsters that live inside us all.

"Fantasy" was all that the title implied: Ordinary people from all over the United States would write in to have their wishes granted on national television. Although some of the fantasies were downright fatuous (e.g. one man wanted to twist his ankles inward on national television), and some of the musical acts were equally silly and at times contrived (e.g. one group who called themselves the "Rhythm Rascals," who played old-timey music and purported they performed at Disneyland's Diamond Horseshoe Revue, was actually three groups who previously appeared on the program combined into one group), "Fantasy" was definitely at its best when it focused on human interest stories, such as reuniting long-lost family members or friends and helping those who could not afford basic family needs (e.g. one Chicago area teen's parents were financially unable to get him braces, and the "Fantasy" staff helped make that a reality). Based on a true story, memories were filmed in the places where they happened, including Lenzie Academy, Glasgow, where current-day students of the school perform in scenes from their of bullying, misbehaviour and sports. Other, dreamlike acts were filmed in an odd admixture of locations including Las Vegas, USA, and Ascoli Piceno, Italy. John McEnroe features in one fantastical scene on a Malibu tennis court.
